Plan
The Board of Health has been providing public health services to the residents of Harrington Park since the 1900’s.
We work towards this goal by:
• Investigating health problems and health
hazards in the community
• Informing and educating the
public on health issues
• Enforcing laws and regulations
that protect health and ensure safety
• Linking people to
needed personal health services
The Board monitors the activities of the part-time Secretary, Sanitarian, and Public Health Nurse.
The Board of Health meets six times a year, see Home Page for dates, at 7:30pm at the Borough Hall located at 85 Harriot Avenue, Harrington Park, NJ 07640.

Board of Health Employees
SECRETARY
The
Secretary is the licensing official for annual cat license
and restaurant license, coordinate clinics and communication
for the members of the Board of Health with the public and
correspondence of dog bites. Office hours: Monday, except
holidays, 12pm-2pm. No office hours for the months of July
and August.
SANITARIAN
The
Sanitarian monitors all applicable federal, state and local
environmental health laws and regulations, as they apply to
pools, food, housing, insect and rodent infestations,
potable water, air and stream pollution control.
The sanitarian also inspects businesses prior to licensure
and follows-up on violations.
The
sanitarian investigates complaints reported by residents on
public health related matters and environmental health
hazards.
These include:
• Food
establishments, restaurants, grocery stores and
delicatessens
• Child care facilities
• Nail salons
• Public swimming pools and schools
• Health related
aspects of heat, hot water, insects, lead paint, rodents and
garbage
Office hours by appointment.
PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE
The Public Health Nurse administers the Adult Health
Consultation Program on the third Wednesday of every month
at Borough Hall between the hours of 11am-1pm. Additional
days and times are available at Club 60.
Services
include:
• Health history evaluation
• Blood pressure
measurement
• Height and weight
• Individualized
counseling and education
• Referral and follow-up
•
Confidential consultation with a public health nurse
The Public Health Nurse also assists with Flu-Clinic and Mini-Health-Fair.
No
appointment necessary. No office hours for the months of
July and August.
